Our Philosophy

At our Centre, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported. Grounded in the principles of the Circle of Security, our approach is built on the understanding that strong, secure relationships form the foundation for lifelong learning, emotional well-being, and healthy development.

We recognize that all children come into the world seeking connection. They need caregivers who are both a secure base from which to explore and a safe haven to return to when they need comfort, regulation, or reassurance. At our Centre, we strive to be “strong, kind, and committed”—providing gentle guidance, setting clear boundaries, and responding to each child’s emotional needs with warmth and sensitivity.

We value the importance of being with children in their big feelings, whether those feelings show up as joy, frustration, curiosity, or sadness. Rather than trying to fix, distract, or avoid these moments, we stay present with children—showing them they are not alone, and that all feelings are welcome and manageable with the help of a caring adult.

We believe children thrive when their caregivers can “follow their lead” during times of exploration and “take charge” in ways that feel safe during times of need. Our educators are attuned, reflective, and intentional in their care—offering the right balance of support and independence to help each child grow into their full potential.

We also know that caregiving is a relationship that extends beyond the classroom. We see families as essential partners in a child’s emotional and developmental journey. We welcome open communication, shared decision-making, and collaboration with families to ensure that each child feels held within a consistent, caring circle of support.

At the heart of our philosophy is this: when children feel safe, they can explore; when they feel seen, they can grow; and when they feel held in mind, they can flourish.

At VADC, we strive to walk alongside children and families—working together to create a place where everyone feels safe, seen, and supported. Guided by the principles of the Circle of Security, we aim to be a secure base from which children can confidently explore and a safe haven they can return to whenever they need comfort, guidance, or connection.

We believe that every child is unique, bringing their own pace, strengths, and ways of making sense of the world. We meet each child where they are, encouraging growth that unfolds at their own level of comfort, with caregivers who are attuned and responsive.

Through play-based learning and real-life experiences, we create an environment where children can explore with confidence, knowing that trusted adults are always nearby—watching over them, delighting in them, helping them when needed, and welcoming them in when they return.

Together, we hold the vision of a community where children, families, and caregivers feel held within a circle of trust, empathy, and connection.
